Gout Problem

This entire past week I missed work because of Gout in my left foot. Gout is caused by excessive levels of uric acid in the blood that becomes crystalized. It can affect the foot, knees, elbows, hips, etc... Gout is usually caused by eating 'rich' foods such as shrimp, steak, and deep fried foods.
In my case when I get Gout, it occurs in 1 foot. It seems to occur about once a year on average and I regularly eat the foods mentioned above. I hear that drinking cherry juice can help prevent gout but I can never find any place that sells just cherry juice. Wally world has a 100% juice that is a mix of cherry and grape that I always buy.
The last time it happened this bad I went to the hospital e-room just to have the doctor tell me what I already know. Perhaps next time this happens, I'll have them take blood and have it tested for uric acid levels.
